Hours
and Access
The Crisis Contact Centre is open every day of the year from 9:00
am to 11:00 pm. No appointment is necessary. The Centre provides a
24 access service on the telephone number listed above. The Centre
provides a crisis response with follow up referrals for assistance
with housing and tenancy difficulties, finances and budgeting,
substance abuse, and mental health problems.
Advocacy
Staff acts as advocates with other community welfare agencies and
with government agencies including the Victorian Office of Housing
and Centrelink.
Domestic
Violence
The Centre also provides a 24 hour response for women and children
who are escaping domestic violence and access to family violence
outreach services for transitional support.
Financial
Support
There is limited financial assistance available for items such as
rent, methadone, some other medications and fares.
Mail
Holding
A mail holding and mail collection service provides a stable
address for people who are homeless or in temporary
accommodation.
Centrelink
The Centrelink Community Support Unit is a Centrelink outreach
service. Centrelink Community Support Workers assist people who are
having difficulty accessing Centrelink services from regional
offices. Support Workers attend the Crisis Centre. Check with the
Centre for times.
Legal
Advice
A lawyer visits the Centre fortnightly and offers free legal
advice. No appointment is necessary

Health
The Access
Health Program is to provide accessible, responsive primary health
care that enhances the well being for:
marganlised or street
based injecting drug users
street sex workers
people experiencing homelessness
Access
Health offers services that are flexible, free there is no need for
an appointment.
Services include doctors, community health nurses, drug and alcohol
counsellors, general counsellors, mental health and psychiatric
support, health promotion, social workers, showers and toilets ,and
a community room. |
