The aim of the program is to manage these community spaces in a way that promotes social inclusion and community development opportunities for public housing tenants and the broader community. The two Community Development Workers currently employed to run this program achieve this goal through linking with and supporting public housing tenants, local volunteers, local organisations and other service providers to achieve fair and accessible usage of these Community Facilities.

This may be through:

  1. sourcing, writing submissions for, and auspicing grants for programs to be run in the Community Facilities
  2. identifying and responding to requests to establish new tenant participation initiatives
  3. providing the use of the Community Facilities at very low cost as venues for existing and expanding programs

There is still plenty of availability for the use of these fantastic community spaces and the Port Phillip Community Group is always open to discussions regarding new community-oriented initiatives that will support social inclusion on public housing estates and in the local community.
