A ‘No Interest Loan’ is an alternative form of credit for people on low incomes living in the City of Port Phillip, who have no capacity to save enough money to buy essential household items, and who cannot afford to incur a debt with high interest rates.

PPCG can lend you up to $800 for essential household items if you can agree to repay the loan within 18 months.

PPCG relies on repayments from that initial money to be able to lend more to others. So, if you can’t make regular repayments it means someone else can’t get a loan.
You are eligible if:

  • You live in the City of Port Phillip, and have been a resident for at least 6 months; or have recently move to Port Phillip and lived in your previous home for at least 12 months
  • If you are a Health Care Card holder, (or have a low income);
  • If you can demonstrate repayment of the loan amount within 18 months;
  • If you sign the Loan Agreement.

NILS appointments are available at the South Melbourne and Port Melbourne PPCG sites by appointment. The PPCG St Kilda site is now offering NILS appointments on Wednesday evenings from 5 to 8 pm.
