share the Food
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic saw a significant increase in the number of individuals and families contacting PPCG for support. As people struggled to navigate unemployment, housing insecurity and isolation from support networks, PPCG adapted the way we delivered much needed relief to those who needed it.
With support from the City of Port Phillip, PPCG launched the Share the Food program, providing food staples, toiletries and hygiene products to people facing financial hardship, and those isolating due to compromised immunity, age or disability.
Since the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, some people have been able to return to work, or to access food in ways which they did previously, so our program is now on hold. We will be ready to assist again should we need to, though we very much hope that community transmission remains low and that we won’t need to start the program again.
To all of our amazing donors, supporters, and especially our volunteers, THANK YOU so much for your incredible hard work and generosity. We could not have done this without you.
If you are a resident of the City of Port Phillip and you are experiencing food crisis, please phone us to speak to a support worker about how we can assist.
