DIGITAL ESSENTIALS, 10 WEEK COURSE

Digital Essentials Level 1 is a  beginners course designed to help learners understand the basics of various areas of technology, including different digital devices, and the ways people can use these devices to connect with others and access services over the Internet. 

This program is suited to learners who have very limited or no experience with computers and devices and learners can join at any time during the term.

  • Using a smartphone
  • Using SMS
  • Connecting and working safely
  • Navigating the internet
  • Using email

WORK THIS WAY – INTRO TO HOSPITALITY EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

When:  From March 3rd – April 14 (7 weeks)

Tuesdays 9.15am – 12pm

Under the expert guidance of the OzHarvest Nutrition, Education & Skills Training (NEST) team, learn about:

  • Nutrition
  • How to cook easy and healthy recipes
  • Store food safely
  • Plan meals and reduce waste
  • Save money on your food budget

Following this program, there will be an opportunity to gain a ‘Dofoodsafely’ certificate in Safe Food Handling for Volunteers .

PLANT, HARVEST, EAT –  EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

Learn skills in gardening, including:

  • home composting,
  • mulching techniques,
  • organic pest control,
  • growing edible plants in raised garden beds and pots,
  • irrigation 
  • sustainability practices,
  • using hand tools

Practice your skills through work experience, with the opportunity to put your newfound knowledge into practice.

WILD AT HEART MUSIC COURSE

Develop your musical, song writing, recording and performing skills at these group classes in South Melbourne. Great opportunity to connect with other musicians and have fun playing the instruments you love.

ART CLASSES

Bring out your inner creativity! Create different forms of art by mastering different techniques in painting, mosaic and more. No prior art experience necessary.

What you will learn:

  • Develop techniques in drawing, mosaics, painting, lino-cut, mixed media.
  • Create your own artwork.
  • Display your work.
  • Learn about the visual arts industry.

Come join us and our volunteers for a relaxed weekly craft group where creativity meets conversation. Bring your knitting, sewing or crochet and enjoy a cuppa together. All skill levels are welcome!

Recreational Activities

Connect with nature and other people in your community on our much loved bushwalks. It’s a wonderful opportunity to take a breath from the pace of the city and to do something positive for your physical and mental wellbeing.

Walks are easy grade and lunch is provided.
